One of the best sport climbing areas in Cyprus, Dhiarizou North and South are situated to north east of Paphos and offer quality rock climbing on limestone.

Reputedly the site of a thieves' ambush hideout in earlier days, Diharziou North and Diharziou South now provide some of the best rock climbing on Cyprus with excellent sport climbing on quality limestone. Varying in length from 13 to 28 meters and in grade from French 4 to 7b Diharziou North and South have something to offer climbers of all abilities.

Directions to Rock Climbing at Diharziou North and South

From the B6 Pafos to Lemesos (Limassol) road take the F616 heading north east towards the Troodos mountains. Follow this road for approximately 15 km continuing all the time straight on, following the Diarizos river valley and passing by the villages of Nikoleia, Fasoula, and Agios Geogrios. After the village of Agios Geogrios the Extreme View cafe is seen on the right hand side of the road, a short while after this the road starts to descend towards the valley bottom and the crag can be seen on either side of the road. With Diharziou South on the river side of the road and Diharziou North being the larger crag on the left hand side of the road.

The best parking for those with two wheel drive cars is on the left hand side of the road a 100 m or so before the crag is reached, at coordinates N34 47 766 E 032 42 083. Those with four wheel drives can seek out more shaded parking by either following the small track from here to the underside of Diharziou north, or by turning in front of Diharziou South and parking by the river ford.

Rock Climbing at Diharziou North and South

Both Diharziou North and South offer sport climbing. Diharziou North has a wider selection of routes, with 26 named routes varying in grade from French 4 to 7b and in length from 13 to 28 meters. Diharziou South has a smaller number of generally higher graded routes.

Both crags are limestone.

The rock faces in all different directions so it is usually possible to find a route in either the sun or shade to suit the temperature of the day.

Climbers should be aware that there is an active beehive on the South wall of the Diharziou North Canyon and should use appropriate common sense on routes that pass near it.

Post Climbing Refreshment

The nearest spot to take post climbing refreshment is the Extreme View Cafe which is passed on the road only a few hundred meters away from the crag
